Abstract
Objectives£ºApoptosis is a key regulator of tissue homeostsis, which critically depends on the balance between proliferation and cell death.

Methods£ºCapsaicin induces apoptosis in AGS cells, human stomach adenocarcinoma cell line.

Result£ºAGS cells showed dose-dependent manner apoptotic cell death. Increased apoptotic cell death, exposured to Capsaicin, resulted from induction of Bad translocation from cytosol to mitochondria, activation of mitochondrial Bax, inhibition of Bcl2, induction of AIF translocation from mitochondria to nuclear, induction of cytochrome-c release from mitochondria to cytosol, activation of caspase and PARP cleavage.

Conclusions£ºThese results suggest that Capsaicin may be potential therapeutic approach in the clinical management of stomach adenocarcinoma.
